Here's a great little hike on an established trail. You'll follow a roaring creek most of the hike, and end with an outstanding waterfall. The trail is very established, and it is a slow uphill climb....not too demanding, lots of level stretches. It is a 2 mile trek to the cache site, so be prepared for a bit of a walk. Water and a lunch would be wise. Our dogs had no problem, and hardy, older kids should be fine.
There really is no good landmark for the exact cache location. We found only 117ft accuracy, and were able to get a third sat. lock only after waiting a very long time. We suggest you take the picture of the rock wall with you, and combine it with the hint if you have trouble locating the cache. The cache is an ammo box along the wall area.
The cache includes various items, including a mini boom box (that was working before getting accidently left on), and the Oregon Sheriff travel bug. Happy Hunting!
A note about the "rocks." Yeah, they made us a bit nervous, too, but we figure most of the rock fall is during the ice and snow season. We doubt the forest department would allow people up in that area if there was a great danger....but of course, Mother Nature has a mind of her own!
