This cache is dedicated to helping Travel Bugs reach international destinations. I really hope that people will use this cache to swap Travel Bugs from different countries. If you take a Travel Bug, please replace it with a Travel Bug from your own country.
This cache is located at the Belize Zoo along the Western Highway in Belize. If you are traveling anywhere West or South from Belize City, you will drive by this cache. You can also visit the zoo on many different tours that are available.
I am not much of a zoo visiting type person, but I found this zoo quite interesting because it has native Belizean animals that you might also be able to see in the wild. For instance, they have a Keel Billed Toucan (see picture below) that I also later saw flying in the jungle canopy. I also saw Spider Monkeys and Howler Monkeys at the zoo and later in the wild.
The cache is a two quart, waterproof, water jug. Inside, you will find a log book and some pens. The cache is not huge and can only handle about four or five travel bugs in addition to the log book, so don't bring very large travel bugs.
Note on cache maintenance: As this caches is located on private property, I have received permission for this cache from the Director of the Belize Zoo. The zoo is excited about the prospect of encouraging more people to visit and learn about the native animals. The zoo is maintaining the cache in my absence and at least three zoo employees know about the cache and can help direct you to it. If you get really stuck, simply ask a zoo employee for assistance. If they don't know about the cache, ask at the gift shop or ask for Celso.
