Max Cacher: Greetings from Geocaching.com

We take all Should Be Archive notes very seriously

It looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While we feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. So that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.
If you are in the process of replacing or repairing your cache please e-mail me in response to this archival, and I will unarchive your cache.
I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Patriot Park

A memorial within Patriot park is dedicated to the memory of
the veterans of Sevier County who gave their lives to defend our country

Parking abounds in the parking lot of Patriot Park, except on days of Pigeon Forge held Events. Every Independence day Patriot Park holds a July 4th Patriot Festival, and on that day getting even near the parking lot, unless you are there early, will be nearly impossible. The park has a paved walking path that runs along the circumference of the park, the west side bordered by the West Prong Little Pigeon River.

15th Annual Patriot Festival

Pigeon Forge celebrates America’s independence July 4, with fun, food, fireworks and entertainment in Patriot Park. Admission is free.
Patriot Festival entertainment will include the western-swing sounds of Wylie & the Wild West. The band’s leader, Wylie Gustafson, is the voice of the Yahoo! search engine Web site signature yodel and the Academy of Western Artists 2004 Yodeler of the Year. The Wild West has performed boot-scootin’ cowboy music for audiences world-wide, and they’re certain to have toes tapping in Patriot Park this July.

Headlining at the Patriot Festival on the Fourth of July:

This cache is a two stage multi-cache with some basic rules and deciphering skills put to the test.

The co-ordinates given take you to the center of the first stage where you will be required to answer a number of questions derived from three structures, (1)the park dedication (the co-ordinated structure), (2)Veterans memorial dedication (East or left of co-ordinated structure), and the (3)Patriot missile (West or right of co-ordinated structure).

Three rules:
(1)If the answer is a number, use the number for the answer
(2)If the answer is a letter; add unit of "1" to each letter in alphabetical order.
Example A=1, B=2, C=3 ..... X=24, Y=25, and Z=26.
(3)Given zero=0

The questions to be answered are:
1)What year was the park dedicated? Use only the first digit (or last) This answer is number A

2)What number day was the park dedicated? This answer is number B

3)What number month was the park dedicated? This answer is number C

4)(use rule #2)What is the first letter of the last name of the eigth name down on the Vietnam Veterans memorial? This is answer number D

5)(use rule #2)What is the first letter of the last name of the fifth name down on the left side of the World War 1 Veterans memorial? This is answer number E

6)(use rule #2)What is the sixth letter of the manufacturer of the Patriot Missile? This is answer number F

7)(use rule #2)What is the third letter of the last name of the 5th name down on the right side of the WWII United States Navy memorial? This is answer number G

Using the above answers plug in your number for the letters to find the cache:
North EF° BC.AGD
West 0DE° EE.ABF

The cache is located within the park!

This micro cache is a camouflage prescription bottle. As with any prescription bottle push down on the top and twist to retrieve the log inside. Be sure to bring a pen or pencil to sign. Please remember the exact place and position you retrieve the cache so as to return it in the same manner!

You may need to exercise some amount of stealth as "love birds" frequently visit this part of the park. The original cache was in a stump that has since been removed. At that time the cache container had been replaced twice! Hopefully we will have better luck with this hide. (1/30/2005)

A “spoiler” hint is provided if you so choose to use.

Once you have signed the log...*Smile*, you have fufilled your daily dose of Patriotic duty!

P.S. Be sure to capture the nearby "Millin' Around" (GCHWHH) cache near the historic Pigeon Forge Old Mill.
