A moderate-difficulty hide, with the added attraction of showcasing
the Wetlands unit of the James River Park system. This area is
especially well-known for the quantity and diversity of its
wildlife – several blinds are available to use as clandestine
observation platforms. There are numerous entry points to this
section of the Park, but the best is probably the one at the end of
Landria Drive.
As with other Park units, this area tends to flood during high
water conditions, so be wary of water hazards, mud, etc. The cache
has been hidden so as to remain relatively dry when the river is up
– and for additional water resistance, the cache is protected by a
Rubbermaid container placed within an ammo can. If there are
muggles around (which is likely), you might want to take the
Rubbermaid container to a convenient spot for examination of the
contents while temporarily returning the ammo can to its hiding
place. You should be aware that the heavy leaf cover nearby makes
close GPSr accuracy improbable, so you might need to look around a
bit for this one.
The initial contents of this cache included, besides the logbook
and writing implements: two 4-packs of ‘super’ AA batteries, a
hippo box and a hippo hand puppet, several stickers, a hose coiler,
a Sharpie Twin Tip pen, a Team Toad Talisman, a Geocaching button,
and a special FTF button for the First Finder.
Good luck.
