I have been riding my bike and paddling my kayak out in this area for some time now. Used to be the only way out here was to paddle. Now the Port of Portland has provided a nice paved multi-use path for people to get out and see this part of the Columbia River Slough as well as the backside of Bybee Lake.
There is lots of bird life out here, be sure to keep your eyes out for Great Blue Heron as well as many other species. You can also spot fish feeding in the slough if you are here at the right time of day.
The trek is about 1.5 miles one way from the parking area just inside the gate of Kelly Point Park. The gates are open from 6am to 8pm, there may be other parking nearby if you choose to head out here during different times.
