The wood was previously part of the estate belonging to the
tragically neglected Great Barr Hall,
whose ruined remains were not far away before the site was
redeveloped.
Parking is near one of the old lodges by the side of the A34
just north of the motorway junction at N 52° 33.759, W 001° 56.640.
There is a matching lodge nearer to the hall at the other end of
the path through the wood.
The wood is surprisingly peaceful despite the proximity of the
M6 and A34 roads. The paths through the woods are mostly
well-surfaced but some may get muddy after heavy rain. The area is
popular with dogs walking their muggles.
The cache is a small (½ l), camo’d clip-lock box with some
room for swaps.
