Galena Greens is the name we gave to this location. All the grass and shrubs where busting out with new life and the entire place was just one big green carpet.
We had just came out of the Indian Rock cache and where trying to figure out which way to go once we hit the asphalt again. Red flipped a coin and we headed right, down river towards Ritter, and we where on our way. Then she spotted a sign and we made a little side trip up a steep gravel Road. Cars should be able to get in and out without too much trouble but be careful anyway.The road dead ends in a large wide parking spot or you will see several parking locations as you go in towards the end. I tried to locate some local information about the townsite but the best I could come up with was for Susanville, about 2 miles away.
(visit link) Anyway, the cache is a small plastic lock top box with a couple goodies and a logbook. It is not hidden very hard, just hard enough to keep prying eyes away from it in most cases. While we where here, we spotted a nice little buck bedded down about 75 yards out. We where here about an hour and he stayed there the whole time, just watching us and flipping his ears at the bugs. We also spotted Deer and Elk tracks all around. There could be snakes here but we did not see any.
