Geocache Description:

The cache is located in Burlington 37 Cemetery. Limited parking can be found at the end of the fence line, north of the cemetery entrance. The small gate is always open.

Burlington was the first county seat in Lawrence County, and is an area rich with history. One of these historical sites is the location of this cache. Formerly known as Toms Cemetery, Burlington 37 Cemetery is the resting place of a group of freed slaves who settled in the area in 1849. Burlington, along with the rest of Lawrence County, had several active stations in the Underground Railroad.

All of the old trees in the cemetery have been replaced with new saplings. The cache is hidden in one of these trees. Please use great care when removing and replacing the cache - I don't want the tree damaged in any way. It took a lot of fundraising for the community to afford this landscaping. I will keep some sort of cache here, whether it be a micro or a simple waymark.

VERY HIGH MUGGLE AREA - USE MAXIMUM STEALTH

Re-hide the best you can. Thanks -pb
