This is a very easy cache, hidden on a beautiful sunny day in a great picnic area with access to some terrific views. (cue inspirational music).
Jedda had a cache here, now archived due to bushfires (see GC2606). My cache is on the other side of the mountain, just in case the original should get replaced. The original would have had had you standing at a lookout seeing the Hunter Valley spread out before you.
Mine will have you walking around the main ring track on a nice simple trail. We know it was simple as we had 4 rugrats and anklebiters with us and not one of them complained about wanting to be picked up and carried. So enjoy the walk, and try some of the side trails leading off, going up and/or down the mountain.
There are great free gas BBQ facilities as well as the old faithful wood burners, toilets, plenty of tables, and trees for kids to run into when they don't look where they are going. In the afternoon there were a ton of people, young and old, slipping down a hill on cardboard sheets and esky lids, so you can easily have a nice family day here.
Geocachers being a cautious lot, most would be aware of the need for discretion when sitting in plain view of a walking trail. Glad that didn't need to be said.
