Geocache Description:

A visit to another NorthEast Ohio park you've probably never heard of.

Props to Web-ling (from who I borrowed the naming convention (I've done several of his Cincinnati YATSAPIDKA caches)) and Moosiegirl (who started the YAPIDKA fad).

YANEOPIDKA -- Yet Another North East Ohio Park I Didn't Know About.

Cache is in Rising Valley Park (hence the reference to 'House of the Rising Sun') in Richfield and Hinckley Townships (it's a joint township park). Had seen signs for the park along Broadview Road, and finally stopped back. It's a real nice park perched on the eastern bank of the valley carved by the East Branch of the Rocky River.

The park used to be owned by the US Military, and plans to convert it were changed by the presence of Girl Scout Camp Hilaka southeast. So instead, it became a hidden gem of a park.

You will start at the picnic pavillion just inside the northeast entrance of the park. By this I mean the pavillion nearest Newton Road. (NOTE: Best parking for the cache is accessed from Newton Road (shorter drive than coming in from Oviatt Road -- they've installed a gate inside the park after the entrance to the picnic pavilion)) The Blue Trail will lead you from there to a very short distance from the cache, so bushwhacking is not recommended or required. It's not a far walk, but the cache is at significantly lower elevation, and the trail can be quite steep (hence the difficulty rating).

Since I moved it slightly from its original home, those of you who have found it previously may now go out and find it in its new location as well... Cache well, and see you around the bend. Keeping with the New Orleans theme of House/Cache of the Rising Sun, the cache is filled with Mardi Grad beads. No night caching, as the park Closes at Dusk.

Cache well and see you around the bend

This cache was originally hidden bySherwoodForest and has been adopted by SuzyJazz in his memory.
