Geocache Description:

This is a multi cache, with 4 locations that will have a name or similar that relates to a number. You can either take a leisurely drive to obtain these clues or if you wish to reduce your carbon footprint - one of the 'personal view of the street' maps can be very handy

When this was first published – this was a multi-location clue hunt.
However, though this can still be done as a multi-stage clue hunt – other acceptable online methods can be used and most will probably do this.

An alternate ‘Maths’ puzzle is also provided in keeping with the numbers theme (see below) though some may find it easier to drive around (virtually or otherwise)
(I am considering relocating the final cache so that it in keeping with the Multi location idea though the instructions on the cache page will still take you to the original location - that will become an interim stage)

At the locations the answers should be obvious.
Finding these clues can be done in no particular order though if out driving for real A, D, B then C maybe best.
Note : I appreciate that this is not very pc as far as your carbon footprint is concerned - so it is suggested you pick up the clues as you go round doing the many other caches in the area and once you have all four answers then go and seek the final cache - or if you want just do it all in one go, enjoy. It is one of my earliest caches and this was how multis were done then.

Onto the locations ...
Clue A. N 51° 12.796 E 000° 18.674 - What's the name of the road here ? = A

Clue B. N 51° 10.934 E 000° 20.929 - Where are you here ? = B

Clue C. N 51° 13.311 E 000° 23.629 - What's the name of the road here ? = C

Clue D. N 51° 12.206 E 000° 16.649 - What's the obvious number here = D

The Final Cache location is at co-ords

N 51° (D) (B-D) . (B+D) (B) (A) E 000° (A-D) (C-B) . (C) (B) (B)

Where the cache is hidden has absolutely nothing to do with numbers – but chosen because of its great view.
This location is reputed to be haunted (hence the title) and is best visited around midnight for good effect – but if you are a little squeamish then do this in daylight – and of course the views are best on a clear day.
I once visited this place during the hours of darkness on November 5th and the firework displays in the distance were brilliant.

An alternate way of obtaining the co-ordinates is to solve the following :-

The cache can be found at N51 x.a E000 y.b

where 2x + 3y = 94 and 3x + 2y = 86
also
a = x2 + y2 - 2x + 1 and b = x2 + y2 + 3y + x/2

For those interested in Jasmer grids
For caches hidden in the month of June 2004 - as of March 2024 there were only 56 active in the UK (was 64 in March 2022) and...
This is the only remaining active cache in Kent that was hidden in the month of June 2004
and one of only three caches hidden in June 2004 in the south east
This is the 4th oldest active multi-cache in Kent and 20 years old in June 2024

Also my thanks go to Gumbleygang who adopted this cache between 2017 and 2022 which has enabled this oldie to keep going
