This cache has been archived.

West Texas Reviewer: Cache Owner (CO) has not responded, so the cache is being archived to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking new cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace this cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 30 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the West Texas Reviewer.

Geocache Description:

The view from here is so spectacular, it's no wonder the red-tail hawks love to nest on this cliff!

I got "lost" and found this trail one day at an event cache. Since then, I've been planning on sharing the view with you. This cache is in Emma Long Park, in the large area outside the "pay beach" that is open for hiking at no cost.

The cache is right at the precipice of the cliff overlooking Lake Austin in Emma Long Park. You can park at N30 20.019 W97 50.377 if you plan to hike several trails while you're here, or at N30 20.132 W97 50.435 if you want to do just the caches from here out to "Uncle Rojelio's". Please obey the No Parking signage at the start of the trail.

Start on what I call Rojelio's trail, but about 800 feet from the road, veer left on a nearly invisible jeep track that goes past "It sneaks up on you, too" (GCJA88). Stay with it until you are only maybe 100 feet from the cache, at most, then head for the precipice. (There are a couple of places you might want to detour out to the cliff, just to enjoy the view. And if you like, you can stick to the cliff and make more of an adventure out of it.)

Near the cache, you will find a nice ledge that's easy to walk on for the most part, but don't miss the edge ... it's a LONNNNNNG way down! The cache is stashed so that you can retrieve it without any dangerous climbing, but keep your wits about you as you walk on the edge! The hawks have wings but you don't. Sit a while after logging your find, enjoy the sounds from the river, the breeze, and the peace only a setting such as this can bring.

Happy Trails!
