A hearty thanks to the Caching Team that came up to the Uintas on a very beautiful day to participate in this cache placement. Also, this great group of cachers helped in making a TV spot for FOX13 news that will air on 4 July 2004 at 9:00PM. Caching Team: Barnoble, ShortySkater, ScoutMaster, KenDodge, JimDodge, Olystats02 & Family, and Duke 22. And special thanks to Brian (Fox13 News Photographer) and his brother John, for taking the time to do this special spot on Geocaching in our beautiful state!
Located by one of the many "highway lakes" located along a beautiful scenic byway--Mirror Lake Highway in God's country, the Uinta Mountains. Teapot Lake is a great fishing spot for the family, especially with little kids. Lily Lake Campground is just to the east of the lake if you're looking for a nice campground to stay the night or weekend. This campground or Lost Lake Campground (just across the highway and a bit to the east) are great places to camp, giving you access to some nice fishing and a short drive to many other caches, ranging in difficulty.
PARKING LOCATION: You can park right alongside the northside of the highway (room for quite a few vehicles) just to the west of the Lily Lake campground entrance.
SPECIAL HINTS: None to speak of. You can walk around the lake, either side. We just happened to walk around the NNE side of the lake. To encode a special hint to say the container is located between a pine tree and a fallen log (acutally is) is basically of no help since the forest is full of pine trees and fallen logs, so I'll leave it at that.
Please place the container as you found it--upright, pine bark placed about half way up the container, and with a few pieces of pine bark on top. And yes, you will probably get some pine sap on your pants and hands.
LAST THOUGHTS: OOPS! Forgot to mention the INSECT REPELLANT--bring some and wear it; Clank32 found out the hard way--SORRY! Hopefully, you have some time to really take-in some of this beautiful country up here. Literally, every time you come up here, Mother Nature will never cease to amaze you and just "WOW" you! ENJOY!
And, by the way, the cache is plum full of goodies to include items dropped by the caching team. And, as always, trade items of equal value--for example, please don't trade eight $1 items for an item that's worth $8--you get the idea.
