Geocache Description:

Geocache at the top of the "World's Highest Hill."

This geocache is hidden at the top of Cavanal Hill (2,369 feet in elevation). The word "Cavanal" is derived from a French word meaning "cave." It is called the "world's highest hill," because geologists use the term "mountain" only on land forms that rise a minimum of 2,000 feet above the surrounding landscape. Cavanal happens to rise 1,999 feet above Poteau, technically classifying it as a hill.

There have been several caches on Cavanal Hill but they have repeatedly been muggled because they were placed in the area maintained by the city. This one is a bit more secluded and off-the-beaten-track. It would be the perfect place for astronomy, high above the city lights.
