Rovaniemi City I is the first cache now in series of 5 caches near Rovaniemi City centre.
Information needed to find this multi cache (just 1 stage multicache) can be found just 200 to 300 meters away from Rovaniemi Railway station and this is an excellent place to continue (check the Railway Station of Rovaniemi cache) cache hunting in Rovaniemi area, especially if you arrived by train.
Rovaniemi City I is located near Reconstruction of Lapland memorial. This memorial is for all those hardworking people who reconstructed the Rovaniemi town after The War of Lapland and German soldiers’ total destruction of the Rovaniemi.
Little history of Rovaniemi, quote from memorial:
“For millennia, this place at the confluence of mighty rivers has been a natural place for people to live. In growing numbers they settled here, giving others more reason to visit. Quite naturally, a growing village sprang up on this interfluvial site, the trade, traffic, administrative and cultural centre of Lapland”
