Brother Can You Give Me Directions Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

MT Fellwalker: Unfortunately there has been no response regarding this geocache, and sadly I am forced to archive it at this time. If at some point in the future the cache is determined to still be present or is replaced, please e-mail me via the link on my profile page. If it still meets the current guidelines, we can discuss unarchiving it at that time.

Thank you.

Geocache Description:

The majority of this multi-cache is located in Brothers Park. You will need a compass and some knowledge as to how to us it.

This cache has been developed to hone your compass skills. The fact that you are participating in geocaching means that you have some understanding of your GPS receiver. However, it must be remembered that when venturing out into the wilderness, it is also important to know how to use a map and a compass. This multi-cache is intended to challenge you to use both. To complete this mutli you will need a compass and some basic knowledge as to how to use it. All of the azimuths (bearings) are true as opposed to magnetic. The magnetic declination for this area is 16 degrees east. All of the caches except the final are located in this park. You can use your GPS to find the distances by marking a waypoint and traveling away from it. While this method will work, you might want to try a method called pacing. This is done by counting how many steps it takes to cover a known distance (usually 100 yards or 100 meters). Most only count when the left foot hits the ground to save counting every step. Some people use a tool called "ranger beads" to keep track of the counting kind of like keeping track of prayers on a rosary beads. To begin, park at the north end of Brother's Park. Walk east on the sidewalk until it turns south. Proceed south to the first cache at N 43 38.239 W 116 40.084. All of the caches are micros until the last. The last cache contains maps of surrounding areas. Please trade accordingly or trade tools used for navigation. The last cache is located near a canal which may not be safe for small children.
Finally, for those who are magnetically and directionally challenged, you can e-mail me for the coordinates of the two intermediate stages.
