This Cache is situated in the Griffin Forest next to Loch Kennard. This area was used from Middle Ages onwards by bands of Caterans as a hiding place, who then roamed across the Glens pillaging and cattle rustling, striking fear and loathing into all who crossed their path. But in time of crisis called by the runner with the Fiery Cross they would gather under the Clan banner to fight for the Clan!

There were no roads in this area just drover routes. Lt Gen. George Wade laid the first stone of the road from Crieff to Aberfeldy on 23rd April 1733 and finished the work in the same year. That was the end of the Caterans as the Troops could get quickly into the area.

A lot of Wades Road can still be seen in the area, and it goes through the Car Parking area.

Park at N56 35.109 W003 48.919 Entrance to Forest is over a Large Stile, good forest tracks and firebreaks a lot are not on the MAP? Boots & Trousers are advisable as heather is knee high in places this is a really nice peaceful place. Water is crystal clear with a lot of Brownies. There is a firebreak at the west end of the loch which goes between the north and south tracks
