Freak of Nature: I checked out the area. If you take the right road to the cache, there are no gates until you park at the parking coords. you would park at the gate and walk in about .25 miles, per my note in '07.
All of this really doesn't matter much as I'm going to have to archive this geocache. Did some research and the cache is on Hancock land, not Plumb Creek land. Hancock is charging $75/year for one person to even just walk in. This was not the case when we placed it. The area is checker boarded with several land owners. I may place another geocache further up the valley on Forest Service land in the future. Thanks to all who participated searching for this cache. It was a good run.

Geocache Description:

Some minor bushwacking. You can drive within a quarter mile of it. The coordinates to the PARKING AREA are:N47° 05.781', W121° 58.954'

The above listed coordinates (not the parking coords) will take you to a random spot on an old road. You then will need to "shoot a bearing" with a hand compass. The bearing is: North 60 degrees West(true north), for a distance of 50 feet. This is a "quadrant Bearing". You are looking for an ammo box. Original contents are: NRA key chain, ring, teamster local 174 union pin, 3 pencils, matheny "diamond", shell, fishing lure, 1 glow in the dark lizard and 1 snake, 1 superball, 1 hoola girl, 1 palm tree.

UPDATE 11-21-07
I've seen several notes about a gate on this road. There is no gate on the correct road. If you continue down the blacktop another half mile or so, pass the quarry and stay to the right, going up the steep hill. This will get you there year round without any obstructions. Good luck.

Update 7-12-14
The road to the cache (after the parking coords) has really grown up in the past two years. You can still use the road, but now it is only a path. I gave the terrain rating an extra half star because of this.

Update 3-26-16
There is some illegal shooting going on from time to time, from the looks of the surrounding area. The local police as well as Plumb Creek Timber Co. LEO check here frequently for this activity. If there are people shooting when you arrive, it might be best to pass until they have left. As a fellow shooter/hunter, I am always ashamed to see the amount of trash left behind. Once you get beyond the trash, it is a nice experience. Take care, and good luck.
