4. Station
Auf zu N 50° 27.(G)(A)(B) E 006° 29.(G+E)(F)(D-A).

5. Station
Für die letzte Station zum Cache folgt (zunächst) dem kleinen Weg bis zu N 50° 27.(H+F)(G-H)(C+A) E 006° 29.(G+F)(H+D)(2*E+F).

A few words about the history...
The ”Wildenburg”, founded in the 12th century, belongs to the category of spore-castles, because it is on a steep mountain. The authority ”Reifferscheid” was divided 1195 among the earl-brothers Gerhard and Philipp von Reifferscheid. Gerhard kept Reifferscheid and Philipp got the castle on the ”wild mountain”. The terrible events of the witch hunts during Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648) belong to the history of that castle. The notorious ”Marsilius III von Palandt zu Wachendorf” claimed the high jurisdiction for himself in the year 1628, although it was entitled to the ”Burherr Graf Werner von Salm-Reifferscheid”. According to different sources he has tortured, strangled and burned on the bonfire of the Zingscheider height, altogether sixteen humans because of alleged magic and witchcraft. In the witch tower, with its up to four and a half meters thick walls, you will find the ”fear hole” a dungeon, protected by an iron base plate. The witch tower with its gothic gate is part of this Cache. It can and must be visited. The abbey “Steinfeld” bought the castle in 1715 and converted the old palace to a parish church. Today Wildenburg belongs to the diocese Aachen and is used as a family and conference centre.

The short walk (approx. 2 kilometers) requires firm footwear and is not suitable for buggies because of some altitude differences. One should know, how to calculate sum of digits: The result is one-digit!

You can park at the above specified coordinate.

1st Station
Go to the farm yard at N 50° 27.709 E 006° 29.624. Near the church on the left house wall you will find a date with four digits = ABCD.

2nd Station
Englisch Walk about 25 meters further to the inconspicuous witch tower at the end of the courtyard on the back left. Here the reception is very difficult, so an extra coordinate is not specified. The upper and lower iron hinge of the gate is fastened with big round iron nails. Make an addition of all nails in the upper and lower iron hinges. One nail isn't round at all, but he needs to be counted. The sum of digits from this result will give you E. If you take a look through the wooden door, you will see into the tower. In former times, there was an iron base plate with F=2 hinges on the left side which covers the dungeon (Hole of Fear).

3rd Station
The next station is N 50° 27.(D+E)(C-F)(B-C-D) E 006° 29.(E+F)(B)(D-A-E). Go back and past the church to the beginning of a footpath that leads along the outside of the castle wall. There is a two-digit number on the back of the traffic sign. The single-digit cross sum less 1 tells you G. If you are unsure, use the following calculation G=B-C+F. Near here - below the parish garden - there are one or two very striking trees (spoiler picture) that were once part of this old cache. If you want, you can still find the rustic place at this coordinate N 50° 27.(D+E)(B-C-D)(A) E 006° 29.(E+F)(C)(B)

4th Station
Go to N 50° 27.(G)(A)(B) E 006° 29.(G+E)(F)(D-A). My recommendation: If you have visited the tree, go back approx. 20 meters and follow the way 240 meters in western direction before you track your GPS. At the indicated coordinate there is a bridge on the right side. The number of vertical bars of one(!) handrail is equal to H. The other side has got by the way just as many. If you look back, you can see the village belonging to the castle on the top of the hill.

5th Station
For the last station to the Cache follow (first) the small way up to N 50° 27.(H+F)(G-H)(C+A) E 006° 29.(G+F)(H+D)(2*E+F).
