Geocache Description:

Here is your chance to visit Irondequoit Bay Park West. This beautiful Monroe County Park is located on the west shore of Irondequoit Bay and offers hiking and access to the bay for fishing. Completely undeveloped, Irondequoit Bay Park West's 147 acres are located along approximately 2,000 feet of Irondequoit Bay water frontage.

There used to be a cache in this park called ‘In the woods by the bay’ and it has gone MIA, another cacher hopes to revive it. In the meantime I hope to get people back to the park but in a different area. I have laid out a short .75 mile loop hike that will give seekers a glimpse of the beautiful trails and varied terrain this park has to offer. There is a couple of short sections of trail that will elevate your heart rate, you can look at the topo map to see the contours of the area. Park at the listing coords, to find the next set of coords and from there stay on the trails to get to the four (4) 2” x 4” metal waypoint tags. All tags are winter accessible and do not require ANY alteration to the landscape and surroundings to be found. All tags are on dead wood and all but the first one are with in 12’ of the trail. Waypoint 2 is on the trail and well hidden but remember you do not have to move anything to find it. The cache container is a Menthos barrel full of goodies and includes a cache camera (since removed) so please feel free to shoot your mug or photograph whatever else you want to record.

Clues/recommendations;
1. Javamutt correctly pointed out waypoint 2 does require you to rotate something out of the way to see the tag. No longer required.
2. Stay on the trails.
3. Waypoint tags are on dead wood.
4. The last 3 tags are considered close to the trail.
5. The cache is hidden near a junky area but you do not have to tear the place apart to find it. You shouldn't even bother looking down in the junky area.

I hope you enjoy your walk the in the woods by the water.
