Count Bassi Traditional Cache
ski3pin: 16 years ago this place was relatively unknown. It was in the beginning stages of recovery from years of abuse. Now it is one of the most visited place in the Crystal Basin. As such, it is a good time to retire this cache. Thanks to all who enjoy this spot.

A cache near one of the jewels of the Crystal Basin
Count Bassi Cache is named for the creek and falls by which it is hidden. Take hwy 50 to Icehouse road turn on to Icehouse road and stay on it until you come to the Bassi Creek/Falls Trail head sign and turn right on to the dirt road. Follow the signs to the new trailhead area and park. Sky up your GPS and enjoy the hike in a gorgeous area of the Eldorado National Forest.
This is a “low water” cache. This will make sense to you once you “get close”.
This area is going through extensive restoration to repair years of resource damage. Last fall we helped lay out the route for this new trail. Enjoy and respect this wonderful place!
