More
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is like the Wind in the Willows Book/Movie (river, trees, critters, and of course rocks as it is a walk along a Dike). Park at N 46 17.821 W 119 20.047 and have a nice walk. Bring a camera and a fishing pole/worms and have a good time.
The trip to this cache consists of an ~0.37 mi hike down the Yakima River Dike to a nice spot in the dike rocks (think white). Lots of wildlife to see in the mornings and evenings and varies quite a bit with the season (mink, beavers, ducks. Geese, eagles, fish, dogs, cats, skunks, horses, and other birds such as an occasional peacock). Look for agates among the gravel and look for wildlife, and fish jumping. Bring a camera and a fishing pole if you want (small mouth bass and catfish).Initial cache consists of 5 balls, playing cards, link puzzle, screwdriver, pink bear, key identifiers, bottle carrier, hot wheels car, spider, snowflake, and of course a logbook with pencils. Have fun.
Attention
About the sign that has turned people away
The dike is used by fisherman and hikers all the time and in this case hopefully buy geocachers. Zachkaylagpa should know because we live along the dike (actually since 1974 and not far from the cache). The gate and sign applies to vehicles as far as I know, because it is only driven on by the mosquito people and dike commissioners.
