The cache is named for the Native American people who lived in this area. The
"Tubatulabal" were primarily a hunting and gathering people. Each summer they
moved their homes from the hot valley floor to the cooler mountains to gather
pine nuts, oak acorns, various berries and to hunt the wild game in the area. As
the higher areas got colder and the natural harvest diminished, the people would
move back down to the warmer valley area to spend the winter.
The Unal Trail is a 3 mile loop with moderate climbing and good views. The
trail continues to climb after the cache and I'd suggest to keep going, the view
at the peak is worth it and you won't regret it. Pack a lunch and eat it at the
peak on the "Memorial" bench someone brought up.

Happy Geocaching!
