This is a 20 minute hike in the woods to an ammo box wedged in a tree 5' off the ground as people said it was impossible to find when leaves covered it. 2015 update- the county is now charging for use of the beach and boat launch so you'll want to park at the baseball field (N 34 8.217, W 84 39.813)and walk north along the road until you enter the woods at a gate (N 34 8.384, W 84 39.915). The gate is to keep vehicles out.
George Washington Carver Park is a Bartow county park with a unique history. Created as George Washington Carver state park for African-Americans during the segregated 1950's, it was sometimes called "the black beach". Atlanta mayor Andrew Young learned to waterski there and there are other people who have stories of its segregated history. It eventually transitioned to Bartow County and renamed Bartow-Carver Park but now reverted back to George Washington Carver Park but remains in county control. The geocache is in an area that apparently used to be campgrounds, but is now lost in the woods. See how many stainless steel toilets you can locate. The buildings are long-gone. Boaters will find this cache is very close to the water and accessible if they can find a good place to climb the little cliffs surrounding the lake.
