Geocache Description:

Bedford Reservation, Hutchinson Field

In 1965 it seemed like a good idea, the plan involved building a high level dam and flooding the Tinkers Creek Gorge. The nintey-foot deep, one hundred and fifty-acre lake would have destroyed this beautiful primitive native forest. If it were not for the efforts of Naturalist Bill Nimberger of the Cleveland Metropolitan Parks, this area would be used for boating, swimming and fishing, its wonder and beauty forever hidden under the deep waters of Lake Shawnee. So come along and find some caches while enjoying a tour of what could have been Lake Shawnee. You can park at Hutchinson Field located at the intersection of West Grace Street and Turney Road in Bedford Ohio. This field is part of the Cleveland Metroparks Bedford Reservation. Permission and a permit has been issued for these caches. All caches can be reached by using the bridal trail so please avoid off trail hiking until you get into the immediate area of the cache. The cache containers are a film canister a mint tin and an ammo can. We hope you enjoy this cache hunt.
