The current Puijo tower has had two predecessors. The first one -16 meter high wooden tower- was constructed by a member of the court of first instance C.R. Dahlström in 1856.
Seuraava, arkkitehti J. V. Strömbergin suunnittelema, 24-metrinen tiilestä rakennettu graniittijalkainen torni valmistui 1906. Torni sijoittui nykyisen tornin ja Puijon majan väliin. Torni purettiin nykyisen tornin valmistuttua vuonna 1963.
The second tower was designed by architect J. V. Strömberg and finished 1906. Tower was made out of bricks on a granite foundation and was demolished 1963 after the current tower was finished.
Hetken aikaa vuoden 1906 ja 1963 tornit seisoivat rinnatusten.
For a short period of time both year 1906 and 1963 towers stood side by side.
Nykyinen torni on 75 metriä korkea ja ulottuu 224 metrin korkeuteen Kallaveden pinnasta.
