About ten years ago, Keats Island had a huge population of
raccoons. They would raid campgrounds and climb onto the boats in
search of food. They were a nuisance. Then as if over night, they
all vanished. Disease ran rampant through the hundereds of
raccoons, and they all perished. The island was raccoon free for a
few years, until last fall, while walking along one of the trails
through the campground, we spotted two of the little critters.

The reception is not that great through the trees. You will most
likely need the clue.
