This cache is very easy to locate and presents no hazards to children and pets. The container is a 4" x 24" tubular container and is winter accessible on skis, snowshoes and snowmobile.
The Ghost Train cache is near the former Hiam station of the CNR's Beachburg Subdivision. The line was part of the Pembroke Southern Railway at the turn of the 20th century. It later was to become a part of the Canada Atlantic system, the Grand Trunk and finally the CNR in 1923.Hiam station was located at Mile 91.7 of the Beachburg Subdivision which was abandoned by the railroad in 1996. The hamlet of Hiam is not marked in any way and only one original farmhouse survives on Henan Road. The old main line is now a snowmobile and recreation trail. If any of my historical information is incorrect, your input would be welcome.
