Geocache Description:

This view point is about 4.25 miles from the Rattlesnake Lake Trailhead making the round trip about 8.5 miles with about 2500 feet elevation gain.  One could approach from the west with a bit more distance but less elevation gain.

During a Wednesday Night Wannabee hike Moun10Bike and I met a four member trail crew headed back to their rigs.  One of them gave us a heads up about a secret view point and encouraged us to visit it because in his opinion it was the best viewpoint from Rattlesnake Ridge.

When you know where to look it is easy to spot the unsigned path that leads to an elevated trail that took some effort to build.  The trail ends in a clearing with views of North Bend and looking up the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River to Garfield Mountain.  Even with overcast skies the views are spectacular and the location deserves a cache but all we had for a cache was a bison capsule and we both hate the dreaded micro in the woods.  As we admired the views a plan developed and Moun10Bike had one less bison capsule to carry down the mountain.

For quite a while I have been holding two version two Moun10Bike coins each having strong sentimental value.  One was retrieved by my bride by doing a solo bushwhack to EvergreenHiker’s Secret Spot and the other was dropped by Moun10Bike in my cache, The World As Runhills Likes To See It.  With the high desire for Moun10bike coins I’ve been wondering how to move one of these coins so that whoever receives it will gain similar sentimental value.

The plan Moun10Bike and I developed is to have the bison capsule replaced by an ammo can more suitable for this mountainous location.  Replace the bison capsule with an ammo can stocked with trade items and a logbook and I will trade a Moun10Bike coin for the bison capsule with log.  Should multiple ammo cans get hauled up the ridge there room for several more caches and we are pondering a runner’s up award.

The hide is by a large stump about 30 feet down slope from the viewpoint. The bison cap was located on the northwest side about waist high under a patch of white wood making it easy to find without damaging the stump.
