Geocache Description:

This cache is in remembrance of just a few that gave their lives to help form and maintain a union that was the beginning of our great United States. As you look over the tranquil fields it is hard to imagaine what must have gone on that day of Sept.13th 1779. Being new to this area of NY, I had not known of this event in our history. I am sure that there are others that may have lived all of their lives here and don't realize the existance of this place or the tragedy that occurred here. This is a pretty easy hide and would be a good one for any young cachers. There also is a small park with grills and picnic tables, so bring some hots. Hope you enjoy this small bit of history and enjoy the hunt. Before you leave, be sure to take the time to give thanks for those that are staying behind. NOTE!!!!! 04-02-23 The cache container has been replaced due to it's host being removed It is now a micro. There is no need to go outside the fence onto private property. Use caution when climbing the hill, as there are still some supports for the old wooden walkway still on the ground. Watch your step! Please be sure it is replaced as found. Thanks.
