The cache
is a black 35mm film canister. All it holds is a strip of
paper to sign the log and a pencil stub. Sorry there's no
room for anything else!
The 19th Century
Stapehill Abbey boasts beautiful award winning gardens, both formal
and informal, a Japanese garden, cloister garden, nuns' chapel,
Victorian parlour and displays the history of the Cistercian order
who lived there. A notable museum and farmyard also depict life in
rural England in Victorian times.
For nearly 200
years, Stapehill Abbey was a place of quiet retreat and meditation
locked away from the outside world, home to a Silent Order of Nuns.
Today you can still experience the peace and serenity in the
fully-restored Nun's Chapel, stroll at leisure around the Cloisters
that still bear traces of the Nuns' frequent journeys to and from
their daily prayers. (be aware though that it does cost £7.50 each
to get in!)
Failing that you
could just grab a quick glimpse over the Abbey's back hedge, sign
the log and zip off to find another cache somewhere in Dorset ....
mmmm, much more satisfactory!
