Cache is about 2 1/4 miles farther inland than the "Three not so little pigs" cache.
John Quincy Adams’ Birthday Cache (Manana Summit or Bust)Nothing in the cache has anything to do with President Adams’ birthday, but it’s a catchy title and the day I hid it June 11th 2004, was his 237th birthday. The hike is described in Stuart Ball’s book “The Hikers Guide to O`ahu”, revised edition on page 124. It’s rated for low danger, but it’s a 12 mile round trip on an ungraded ridge. That means if you search for it you go up and down, and up and down, and up and down many many times until you reach the the cache which is just short of the State’s 4 mile marker.If you reach the marker turn around and go back just a little.This time the cache container is a bit smaller than my usual containers. See the picture below.
It contains:
1-Log Book
2-Fresh block of “sex wax”
3-Emergency whistle
4-Light Stick
5-little frog in a zip lock baggie moved from 3 Pigs cache lower on the ridge
6-little rubber pig moved from 3 Pigs cache lower on the ridgeIn place of the two items I removed from the Pig Cache
I left a “whoopee cushion” and a deck of cards for a “kids” game. I figure kid are likely to be along on searches for the Pig cache and not mine.
Oops, when I got home I found the whistle on my desk. Sorry.
