Geocache Description:

Kanaskat-Palmer State Park is a 320-acre camping park on a small, low plateau in a natural forest setting.

The park has two miles of shorelines on the Green River. Boat and raft launching is by hand only.

River rafting and kayaking down the Green River Gorge is for expert-level enthusiasts only.

Shoreline activities include nature appreciation, trout fishing and picnicking.

Those that were in attendance do not need to guess as to why this cache is named as it is. Perhaps it was best summed up by Shunra who posted a "Should Be Archived" note for the Event since it's contents (US) were SOAKED!

Yes, we got wet! After the potluck BBQ on Saturday we went after one more cache for the day and all came back totally soaked! We could not have been wetter had we gone swimming in the river.

The cache is a 50 Cal ammo box, Camo painted and hidden within two feet of the main trail along the Green River.

The location was scouted by RightWingWacko and Misguided One, and the cache was placed several hours later by RWW and 4chin Seeker.

Initial Contents include a VIRGIN unlogged Yellow Jeep Travel Bug, several Geocoins, and lots of great cache swag donated by the campout participants.

Those that searched for the cache during the campout are welcome to log their finds, but should not claim First-To-Find since they had an unfair advantage

There are several ways into the cache:

  • The long way is to start on the trail at the park entrance and follow it to another cache in the park (Kanasket/Palmer) then continue on another 1/2 of a mile to this one.
  • The quicker way would be to park at the entrance to the Group Camp at 47 19.102 / 121 54.214 and walk down the road to the trailhead. From there follow the trail an easy 1/4 mile to the cache. You can also do Kanasket/Palmer from this location, as it is 1/4 of a mile in the opposite direction.
  • The cache should also be reachable from the regular camping area, but please do not approach from this direction unless you are actually camped here.

Please respect the privacy of those that may have rented the group camp!

A discover pass is required on all vehicles entering the park.

Annual pass: $30
$35 with transaction and dealer fees if purchased at a license dealer, by phone or online

One-day pass: $10
$11.50 with transaction and dealer fees if purchased at a license dealer, by phone or online
