Geocache Description:

For one week every July the small town of Okemah becomes home to thousands of music lovers. This cache should only be done during daylight hours unless you are also camping at the Okemah Lake Park.

This cache is a TWO PART Multi-Cache. There is nothing hidden at the first location except the answers to the Two(2) multiple choice questions that will give you the Latitude and Longitude to the actual cache.
The first stage will take you to a very small park in downtown Okemah Oklahoma where there is a statue of Woody Guthrie. The second stage is where the cache container is and that is located in Okemah Lake Park about Six miles north of town. This cache is to be used as a music exchange. The only items that should be traded are CD’s and Tapes and they should be originals or if they are copies they should be samplers where only a few songs by various artists so that it may make someone decided to buy the album. The whole idea is to encourage people to listen to something different than what they hear on the radio everyday. The container is a ammo box so there should be room for several CD’s.

Question #1

Woody Guthrie wrote over 1000 songs and people have had bricks made with the titles of some of his songs on them to surround the statue. On the East side of the statue whose name is on the brick with the song title “Oklahoma Hills”?

A) Slaid Cleaves - N 35*31.356'
B) Jimmy Lafave - N 35*31.295'
C) Ellis Paul - N 35*31.363'
D) Joel Rafael - N 35*31.302'

Each of these musicians and many others have volunteered to perform at almost all of the Woody Guthrie Festivals and it is thanks to them they can keep this festival free.We suggest that you check them out next time they are in your area.

QUESTION #2

There is a mural on the east wall of the park, what is the artists name?
A) Bill - W 096*19.150'
B) Deanna - W 096*19.045'
C) Randy - W 096*19.087'
D) Guy - W 096*19.119'

The coordinates from the two correct answers will take you to a quiet spot in Lake Okemah Park. Incorrect answers will take you to the dock, a picnic table, the restrooms, in the lake, or an open field. There are Sixteen combinations of latitude and longitude and you can probably do this cache by the process of elimination but we suggest you stop by town for a few minutes anyway.

It shouldn’t take more than thirty to forty minutes for I-40 travelers to complete this cache. We hope you have fun and maybe find some new traveling tunes.

By the way the cache is near a swim beach that is free and open to the public so bring your swimsuits and cool down a bit if the weather is right.
