Makuta Teridax: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

I have earlier asked about the plans for this cache. It's now been two months without response from the owner, so this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

Geocache Description:

This is our first cache placed on sites of historical ground. Festung Norwegen is a traditional cache which is placed in a German WW2 bunker complex.

During WW2 i a directive from Hitler dated 14 dec 1941 the order came out to make a "Westwall" from the Pyrinee's to North Cape. This should be his main defence line against the allies from the west. In Norway the germans started the build up already in 1940, but in 1941 it really took speed.

350 coastal fort and aproximately 20 airports were build. The first build up of the german defence line was to secure the main cities of Norway and the main road from Kirkenes to Oslo. Today you can find bunkers like this all over the country, most of them alongside the coast.

This bunker complex where this cache is placed was not finished. It was supposed to be a main command center and a field hospital for the german forces. In 1944 there was a lack of building materials like concrete, steel and so.

This cache is placed on one of the peaks of Sandefjord. There is a very good view from the area, and you can see quite far from the top.
