Lanark loch,As its name implies, this 20acre loch lies on the outskirts of Lanark,on the A73. Built up by the Victorians in the19th century, it has been recently refurbished by south lanarkshire cc. It has a walkway of approx.,1mile in circumference. Its an excelent day out especially for a young family, with plenty of play areas with swings, putting boating, etc. Its also home to 60-70 mute swans (with two breeding pairs)and various ducks, coots etc. The Scottish eqine centre is close by, onthe old race course which was closed to racing in the late 70's There is a large car park at the loch at N55.40.084 W03.45.318 Ther is also a large car park at the equine centre, ecept when there is an gymkhana on then it fills up with horseboxes.
