Visit the most beautiful of locations in all of New Mexico. Bears, deer, elk, and quivering aspen make this a most enjoyable location. The cache (an ammo can)is located on a rocky knoll with a large old tree growing out of it. Taking young children to this point is fairly safe. Altitude is about 9,284 feet.Take Forest Road 117 through Villa Madonna toward Monjeau Lookout. Park at the trail head for Crest Trail #25 at 13S E 431630 N 3698720. Cache is to the SW. The road is two wheel drive capable in good weather. Road may be closed during the winter so check with Lincoln National Forest Ranger in Ruidoso to see if it is open, otherwise the hike will be longer. After visiting the cache, take a heading of about 220 degrees for about 100 feet. A large rocky knoll emerges from the forest and is the perfect place for viewing and a snack break for adults. Parents - Caution should be exercised with children and perhaps they should not climb the rock. Original cache contents include a golf bag with pens for clubs, a law enforcement towel, a Cree Meadows golf ball, a snowman, a golf ball retriever, a magnifying glass, 6 county pins, and four clear marbles. SubduedPilot28 replaced the original cache on August 30, 2020 ... Thanks
