Geocache Description:

This cache will take you half a mile through some of the most beautiful landscape in Chester County, before challenging your GPS in some seldom traveled woods. It is a companion to the nearby “Living in Harmony” cache.

If possible park at the Welkinweir visitor parking (N40*09.298 W075*41.021). While the cache is not on Welkinweir property, Welkinweir is worth the visit. As of late August 2004 Welkinweir has limited the "Public Entrance" hours to 8-5pm Weekdays only (weekday holidays are OK). Leashed dogs are welcome and kids love the place. You can picnic at tables near the parking area.

If you must cache in off hours and miss Welkinweir, you can park on Prizer road near Route 100 (N 40*09.616, W075*40.288) and head south on the Horseshoe trail. Distance is a bit longer (1.5-2 miles round trip) and more difficult. Trail is still very nice, but it’s no Welkinweir.

Welkinweir is a hidden gem of Northern Chester County. It is a nature sanctuary, preserve, arboretum and more. It may be the most beautiful place in Chester County during the spring, and even year round. Admission is free (donations welcomed).

The cache is not inside Welkinweir. Your travels will take you across and beyond Welkinweir or down the Horseshoe trail. The area beyond Welkinweir will challenge your GPS - patience is the key. If you wonder where in the blue blazes you are, then you are on the right trail. Cache is a small ammo box, hidden less than 100 feet off trail. No significant hazards (bugs, but very little ivy, and only a few thorns.)

You may want to consider doing this cache along with my “Living In Harmony” GCJGGA (north on the Horseshoe trail). Arrive using Alan2’s “Covered Bridge Tour of Chester County” GCJJZM with a picnic lunch and you have the makings of a perfect, harmonious day.
