The former Lawrence County Jail, now under renovation. Park near the basketball court or along the road paralleling the river. Don't trip as you descend from the asphalt.
Container is long bluish plastic travel mug.
The playground and commons area is on the site of the former Lawrence County Courthouse. Lawrence County was formed in 1816, and Burlington was chosen as its county seat in 1817. The county seat was moved to Ironton after the issue was raised in the general election in October 1851.
The jail is currently being renovated on behalf of the Historic Jail Preservation Corporation. The plan is to turn the building into an Underground Railroad museum.
Muggling is imminent, but as the site is a very low traffic area, we've been lucky.
They'll be doing flooring and window work at some point, though funding has apparently been scarce lately.
