Geocache Description:

Updated with more accurate coordinates on 9-13-04

This cache is located near a natural spring called Cold Spring in the Village of Lopez, PA.  You will find parking at N 41° 27.219, W 076° 20.906. I am rating the terrain at 2 due to a slight hill climb and no real trail to speak of, and the overall difficulty at 3. I have added a clue and some photos that can be used as a clue or spoiler.  To see the photo that goes with the clue click HERE.  If you want to see the spoiler photo click HERE.

Cold Spring is a great natural spring that has the best tasting ice cold spring water you can find. (In my opinion of course.) You can drive right to the spring on a well maintained dirt road and park right next to it.  Bring a glass and enjoy some of the tasty beverage for yourself.  Heck, bring some empty jugs so you can take some back home with you!

As for the cache location, the coordinates should get you in the general area.  There is very heavy tree cover which could make it a bit more tricky to find.  It is not a long hike at all however, so that should make up for the possible lack of satellite reception.  I suggest that once you park, begin your trek into the woods on the right side of the maintained grassy area.  Try to stay in the wooded area and off the grass or you may sink in the ground far enough to ruin your socks.  It is very wet and mushy in the grassy areas most of the time.  The cache is located approx 100 yards from the parking area.

This spring and surrounding grounds belong to the community and upkeep is provided by a non-profit organization.  This is a very popular spring where local residents, and others, get water or even wash their cars.  Part of the difficulty of this cache may be getting in and out when no one is there to see what you are doing.  Please try to be discrete and re-hide the cache very well before you leave.

This is a photo of the general area - Not a spoiler.

Here are the contents as of the day we hid it.

This is the spring itself and parking area.

The cache is in an ammo can with black lettering on one side.  The seal on the can is very good so everything should stay nice and dry.  The original contents include: Childs tooth brush, small camp fire starter log, calculator, batteries, skin lotion, screwdriver, 2005 calendar, magnetic letters, Bandaids, rubber ball, note pad with magnet, hardcover Italian cookbook, log book, cache camera, and even some dog treats in case you K-9 companion is along for the trip.

There is also a special "First Finders" prize which is not shown in the photo to keep it a surprise.

This is the first cache placed by TeamTyler so please post some feedback comments in  your log or e-mail us so we know what we did right or could do better for our next hide.  Happy Hunting.
