Dear Dora recently celebrated a birthday. She's not sayin'
which one, and if you ask her, all she'll say is, "This year's, of
course!"
In the month of July, NC_Ron&Dianne BOTH celebrated
birthdays as well. To honor all three birthday folks, a
"SECRET" birthday party was given for them...but
THEY weren't told where!
They were going to have to work to learn where their
birthday party was being held! Gojoey came up with the idea, and
with the help of Atrus, two separate "multi-stage routes" were set
up, and each had to visit several locations, gathering hints, and
solving mathematical equations to build coordinates to a place that
would tell them where the birthday party was being held in their
honor. |
At precisely 5 pm on the appointed evening, an email was
dispatched to Dear Dora and NC_Ron&Dianne. Each received
coordinates to their respective first stops, and instructions on
what to do when they arrived. Dear Dora's first location was a bus
stop that she never even knew existed. She had to find a telephone
number on a nearby sign, manipulate a few of the digits, and
calculate part of the coordinates to her final destination. Second
stop took her to a Verizon telephone booth to gather more
information, and more calculations. |
This is so much FUN!!!. |
Okay! Almost have 'em now! |
Her next set of coordinates took her to a power meter. She was
instructed to use the last three digits of the meter's serial
number to calculate the final coordinates to where she would learn
where the birthday party was being held. |
Now that she had computed the complete coordinates, she was off
to whatever place Gojoey had up his sleeve. This is where she would
finally learn where her birthday party was being held. When she
arrived, another car was already there. Guess who it was? |
NC_Ron&Dianne
The other birthday couple! |
She finally found what she's been lookin' for! |
There were birthday cards, |
...and birthday caches for each. |
This was so cool! Gojoey had painted an old newspaper box, and hid
it where it could be easily found. He put a card in it for each
one, and also had a BIRTHDAY CACHE hidden for each, directly
at the BASE of the paper box. They were all so happy to find the
cards, that NONE of them looked down to find the caches!!!
What a hoot!
Also, in the paper box were the "final" coordinates to where the
birthday party was being held in their honor. They still didn't
know exactly where it was, so they had to just "follow the needle"
on their GPSr! (...and they better "shake a leg" or they just might
miss their own birthday party!)
The coordinates did indeed, take them to a local restaurand where
everyone ELSE was already gathered and waiting patiently for the
guests of honor to arrive...

The birthday folks FINALLY joined everyone else at their
own party! |
There was birthday cake! |
...and 3 guesses where the party wound
up... |
So, now you know all about the Birthday caches of Dear Dora and
NC_Ron&Dianne. They had to HIDE those caches, which is
why you now have the task of FINDING them! (I think this is
just a sneaky way for Gojoey and Bookworm1 to have more caches to
find!)
Thank you so much, Gojoey & Bookworm1 for making our 2004
birthdays so much FUN!!!...And, BTW, Next year, Gojoey,
and Bookworm1, JUST YOU WAIT!!!

Today, July 24, Dear Dora hid her
Birthday Cache. As you can see from the above pictures, the cache
container is rubbermaid type container about the size of a small
shoe box. It is hidden in a quiet, forgotten garden setting amongst
trees, a swing, park benches, statuary, and fountains.
Tucked away in the base of a
two-trunked tree and covered with leaves.
Park nearby at N35 11.580 W82
08.378.

Note: The property upon
which this cache is hidden has been sold. It now belongs to the
Christ Community Church of the Foothills. In June of 2009, we had
the pleasure of meeting with Pastor Rick Hall. He was totally
unaware that he "inherited" a geocache on the property. We
explained geocaching to him, showed him the cache, and where it was
hidden. He had never heard of geocaching, but was interested to
learn more. He allowed us to keep the geocache right where it is,
and said he would make others in the congreation aware of its
presence.
Since the cache is now hidden on
CHURCH property, please be respectful, and do
NOT seek this cache any time services are being
held. |
