Located at Horseshoe Curve National Historical Landmark
We noticed that a lot of caches were done on the way to or from Horseshoe Curve. We got permission from the Railroaders Memorial Museum, which maintains the landmark, to hide a cache Near the site. Horseshoe Curve, which was opened in 1854, was an engineering marvel that allowed trains to conquer the Allegheny Mountains. It's awesome to watch trains as they do over 180 around the track. There is a musuem and also a funicular to the tracks, but there is an admission fee for those. If you want to get to the top without paying you need to go in the early AM or the evening (we've found there are lots of trains around 8 pm). The cache is in an area that is accessible without paying admission. Cache is a small decon container. No bushwhacking is required
The cache used to be on the stairs , but the site has removed a lot of trees and mountain laurel so we had to move the cache in Spring 2013.
