A Platano, poche case e qualche villa, frazione di Caprino Veronese, c'è il platano più famoso d'Italia; e, forse il più grande. Il "Platanus Orientalis" ha circa 400 anni di età; che il platano dei cento bersaglieri sia il più grande d'Italia, qualcuno lo contesta, parla di cifre gonfiate.Così chiamato perché, nel 1937, durante una grande manovra dell'esercito italiano si nascosero tra le sue fronde cento bersaglieri.

In a small outlying ward of the county town Caprino Veronese, called Platano there isthe most famous (and may be the most big) plane of Italy. The latin name is "Platanus Orientalis" and it is about 400 years old.I t is called "Platano dei 100 Bersaglieri" (Plane of 100 Bersaglieri*) because the history reports that during some big manoeuvres of Italian Army in the 1937, one hundred "bersaglieri" hided in its leafy fronds.
* Bersaglieri is a particular service of Italian Army. The characteristic of them it is that they run always, in any moviment or action....
