Trail head starts at the back of "Kings View Estates", at N39deg 08.382'/W108deg45.501. Take the D3 trail that loops around the canyon, a six mile roundtrip hike. Geocache site overlooks a "very" scenic view of a black canyon leading into the Colorado National Monument.
From I-70 (exit 19), drive less than two miles on HI-340. At top of hill, turn right into "Kings View Estates." After a mile, road becomes dirt/gravel. At fork, take left. Trail head starts at N39deg 08.382'/W108deg45.501.
I took my five year old and two year old with me on this hike. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Trail gets a little steep in places. But, offers an outstanding view of the canyon and the Colorado National Monument. We saw several rabbits, lizards, and birds along the way. There are suppose to be a herd of bighorn sheep as well.The cache is not far from the trail and about 15 feet from a steep ledge and dropoff. So, make sure that you keep your eyes on your kids.Geocache is a black GNC jug with gold lid.
