Geocache Description:

A short flat walk.

Carrock Fell is situated on the extreme northern fringes of the Lake District and its main virtue is its enduring isolation - it is still largely unknown territory to the many walkers who visit the area. Rich in minerals, the area around Carrock fell has been extensively mined for many substances including copper, zinc, iron, manganese, barytes and silver. Geology lesson over - the cache is placed just off the road to Caldbeck below Carrock Fell, close to the Cumbria Way - no parking problems. Watch out for the Shetland ponies, especially if driving in the dark, and the odd sheep dawdling across the road that won't be hurried. It is said that a visit to Carrock Fell was the only one Dickens made into Cumberland. He had read about ". . . . a certain black old Cumberland hill or mountain called Carrock Fell" which seems to have been the motivation for his visit. Cache contains: Clowns, spook, reflectors, neon eraser, pen, monster bracelet, tape, mood head Cicadoecuskeleton, and bouncy ball.
