Geocache Description:

THIS IS A THEME CACHE MILITARY ITEMS.TRAVEL BUGS EXEMPT. PARK ON PAVED AREA.

Archie R. Belle laid to rest in what was known as a Black cemetery. This cache is dedicated to those who severed in a segregated military and lived in a segregated south.

Yes at one time the South was segregated. They don’t post signs on rest rooms any more, but one only has to visit an old cemetery, to see first hand.

PLEASE RESPECT THIS AREA.

Pay tribute to those who served, unselfishly.

This cache is dedicated to Archie R. Belle, a soldier who served in the 402nd Labor Battalion. Of the US Army, During World War 1.

Blacks, where in their own outfits then, units like the 92nd and 93rd Division, don’t forget the 555th, the Triple nickel. At times they were called Buffalo Soldiers. They came home to rest.

The markers don’t have glory titles like General, but titles like COOK, cause thats what they did. Some of the markers are made of concrete with misspelled words, that’s just the way they done it back then.

This is truly a fascinating piece of history that should be shared. Archie gave his life for my freedom back then and I just want to say

THANK YOU ARCHIE.

Cache is a military ammo can. Inside are military patches and buttons, keep it in the theme.Travel Bugs Exempt, Pat Tillman rookie card for the FTF.
