Interesting history in an unlikely location. These coordinates will lead you to a spot on the steps of the University of Michigan Union where the Peace Corps was first defined by then President Kennedy. Here you will find a medallion where he stood, and a wall plaque nearby that reads:
"Here at 2:00 a.m. on October 14, 1960, John Fitzgerald Kennedy first defined the Peace Corps. He stood at the place marked by the medallion and was cheered by a large and enthusiastic student audience for the hope and promise his idea gave the world."
Several logs over the years are from cachers who were students on campus, or even present during the actual speech!
To get credit for this cache, please email me the distance and approximate direction that the medallion marking the spot where he stood lies from this wall plaque. Please note, these two items are in proximity to each other; please don't report the distance to a plaque which is on the main sidewalk along the street.
