Geocache Description:

Micro (plastic screw-top container) hidden in a very old, remote cemetery.

Makeever Cemetery is the resting place of the first white settlers and the first white child born in Jasper County, Indiana. Many of the old tombstones have been weathered so badly that the inscriptions are no longer legible. Spend a few minutes there and consider what life might have been like for these early settlers who came to this region in the 1830's. There is also one recent marker for a John Doe, whose identity apparently was never learned. The cache is a traditional micro hidden in a 35mm film canister. You'll have to provide your own pencil to sign the log book. This is also a great opportunity for CITO. When I placed the cache I removed several beer cans, but I'm sure I probably missed a few. Resources are pretty tight for maintaining these old cemeteries, so everything we can do to help will be appreciated.
