Double Cairns Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jennifer&Dean: This one had a good run but we are not going to replace it. Someone in the region has offered to put another one nearby so we are going to say goodbye to Double Cairns. Thanks to all those who have found it over the years and to the original owners for placing it.

Geocache Description:

**Adopted by Jennifer&Dean on Oct. 23, 2006. Thanks to frogwarts & bearfr for going through the work of setting it up.**

This is located on a high rocky bluff only a tenth of a mile from the road. Although rocky, the hike is short and relatively easy. Stop to smell the flowers.

We would recommend having a topo map while exploring in this area. The Helena National Forest map works well. We discovered this neat location while traveling from the Mason Cache to the Ophir Cave Cache so this is an opportunity to pick up three caches in one day. This can be accessed off of the Avon-to-Helmsville Highway 141 by taking the Ophir Creek turn onto 3-Mile Road, or by taking the Mullen Pass Road off Highway 12 just south of McDonald Pass, or from the Marysville Rd from Lincoln Highway. This area is not passenger car friendly so consider your 4-wheel drive or high-clearance vehicle. Over all, though, the roads are in good condition.

For camera and/or flower buffs this entire area is covered with meadows of wild flowers.

This is a Rubbermaid container.
