The Greenway North cache is on a section of the Merritt Trail in
St. Catharines. This section, following along the remains of the
Second Welland Canal is a short (580m), flat walk on a crushed
stone path. The cache is only 2-3 meters from the trail, so its
camo is important. Please make sure the cache is not visable. Be
sure to copy down the N coordinate (written under the cache lid) if
you wish to locate the final!
The Niagara area has been blessed with many Greenway areas and
their numbers are increasing. The Bruce Trail and its side trails
have been enjoyed by hikers, nature lovers and geacachers for
almost forty years. The Waterfront Trail, the Heritage Trail, and
the Merritt Trail are other prime examples of established trails
that have been, thankfully, up-graded and maintained through the
continued efforts of dedicated volunteers. Rail Trails, such as the
Steve Bauer Trails, the FonthillSpur, and other sections of the old
Niagara, St Catherines and Toronto electric railway are slowly
becoming a reality. The Decew Parkway, although only in its
proposal stage, offers more chances to "hike Niagara". In order to
find the final Greenway Final Cache, you will need to locate the
"Greenway N" cache, and the "Greenway W" cache, and using the
information you find therein, plot the coordinates of the "Greenway
Final". All three caches are located on separate trail systems in
the Niagara area." Good Luck!!"
